Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are reuniting on “Love and Other Drugs” for Fox 2000 and New Regency says The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on Jamie Reidy’s nonfiction book “Hard Sell”, Gyllenhaal will play Reidy who was a salesman for Pfizer in the late 1990s who eventually wrote a memoir that shined a light on the practices of the pharmaceutical industry.
Reidy who begins a relationship with a woman who has Parkinson’s (Hathaway) while on one of his sales calls. Their love story plays out in the political and social context of the time.
Ed Zwick (“Blood Diamond,” “Defiance”) directs from a script adapted by Charles Randolph (“The Interpreter”). Shooting kicks off this Fall.
Gyllenhaal and Hathaway previously worked together on 2005’s “Brokeback Mountain”.
