Gunn: Thor Is Not In The “Guardians” Sequel

Filmmaker James Gunn got some tongues wagging this past week when he took a photo of himself during production on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” in Atlanta, a photo that saw him on-set holding Thor’s hammer Mjolnir from the other MCU films.

This quickly led to chatter that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor would have a cameo in the film. Gunn, who took a stance a few months back that he’d no longer comment on any rumors swirling around his sequel, changed his mind briefly on that front this weekend when he responded on Twitter to these rumors and explained why he took the photo:

“This is actually a nice little collection of my and the cast’s behind-the-scenes glimpses at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. (And, no, Thor isn’t in Vol. 2 – the props guy just happened to have it around and I decided to take a pic with it. Not sure if I’m able to lift it because I’m worthy or because I’m soulless like an elevator). Hope you all have a great weekend.”

Hemsworth will shortly be reprising his role of Thor when Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Ragnarok” begins production shortly. Filming on the ‘Guardians’ sequel is in its final stages with only a week or so to go before it wraps. It’s thought a first look at the film could take place during this year’s San Diego Comic Con in July, but that hasn’t been confirmed as yet.
