Back in October came the first footage from “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” in what was dubbed a ‘sneak peek’ rather than an actual teaser trailer – even though it was effectively just that.
Filmmaker James Gunn was adamant at the time that the teaser trailer was not yet done and would be released before the year’s out. Well today he confirmed that said trailer is ready and due for release soon.
Speaking at the launch of the trailer for suspense thriller “The Belko Experiment” this week, a film which he penned, Gunn spoke to Heat Vision about the proper ‘Guardians’ teaser and why it took much longer than ‘Belko’ to assemble:
“Guardians is the harder one. With Belko, the premise is what people have to buy into. With Guardians, people really go through every single little shot and try to figure out what the movie’s about. And there’s a lot of mysteries in Guardians 2… We were talking about how much to give away – and we’re not going to give away very much.”
‘Belko’ is also set entirely within an office block which makes showing shots from all parts of the film fairly simple. ‘Guardians’ on the other hand can show one shot an in the process can give away a whole set piece:
“[With Belko] you can show all sorts of stuff happening and it doesn’t really give away who lives, who dies, what the outcome is, what the mystery is. With Guardians, it’s such an emotional and physical journey, going to all these different places. It’s like, ‘God, do I really want to show this planet we go to in the middle of the movie? … Those are always hard choices to make.”
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” hits cinemas in May.
