Gunn On “Guardians” Characters In “Avengers”

Production is now underway on the “Avengers: Infinity War” saga with several cast members of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” film series currently filming their scenes for directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

James Gunn, the director behind both individual ‘Guardians’ films, revealed on Facebook Live this week that he’s had plenty of input into the “Avengers” films in regards to the involvement of the characters he brought to life on screen:

“Yes, I’m an Executive Producer on Infinity War. I’ve been working hard with the Russo brothers, with the Marvel guys, with Kevin Feige, to make sure that any of the characters that I’m involved with, that are in that movie are well taken care of and are as funny as they should be, and is are as honest and truthful as they should be. So I’ve been dealing with them all the time. I’ve been talking to the actors on set every single day as we go through production, and it’s been a great experience so far.”

Gunn is also busy doing the finishing touches on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” which just had its lavish Super Bowl ad premiere. That trailer finally showed us Elizabeth Debicki’s version of Ayesha, who we’ve since learned is the Golden High Priestess of a self-sustaining, pompous and overly sensitive race known as the Sovereign. The Sovereign perpetually bioengineer themselves to become the living embodiment of perfection.

In the wake of that TV spot, Marvel Studios has released a batch of new photos from the film – some behind-the-scenes shots along with some quite hi-res captures from the clip. You can see all of those in the album below:
