Following their multi-Oscar winning team-up for “The Shape of Water,” filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has signed an overall deal with Fox Searchlight to write, produce and direct live-action feature projects at the speciality division.
In fact, Searchlight is set to create a new label that will ‘serve as a home for projects in the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres, including those produced and curated by del Toro’.
The first project under the deal will be “Hostiles” and “Out of the Furnace” director Scott Cooper’s supernatural thriller “Antlers” based on the short story “The Quiet Boy”.
The story follows an elementary school teacher who takes in a troubled student that harbors a mysterious family secret with deadly consequences. Del Toro, David Goyer, and J. Miles Dale are producing while Nick Antosca and Henry Chaisson wrote the script.
