Norwegian actor Sverrir Gudnason, coming off a major role as Bjorn Borg in “Borg/McEnroe,” has scored the male lead role in Fede Alvarez’s “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” for Sony Pictures.
Gudnason will play Mikael Blomquist, the magazine editor role originated by Michael Nyqvist in the original “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” Swedish film trilogy and by Daniel Craig in the David Fincher-directed Hollywood adaptation of the first novel.
Gudnason joins Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander, Sylvia Hoeks as Salander’s twin sister Camilla, and Claes Bang as the villain in this adaptation of the fourth book in the series.
Scott Rudin, Amy Pascal and Elizabeth Cantillon will produce. Filming begins January in Berlin and Stockholm ahead of an October 19th 2018 release.
