“Guardians” Scribe To Pen “Pokemon” Film

Marvel scribe Nicole Perlman (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Thor”) and “Gravity Falls” creator Alex Hirsch are in negotiations to pen the live-action Pokemon-themed “Detective Pikachu” film at Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures.

Legendary landed the rights to the popular “Pokemon” franchise in early July in a deal that came two weeks after the “Pokemon Go” augmented reality game was released and became a worldwide phenomenon.

Pokemon was introduced in Japan in 1996 and has sold 279 million video games worldwide with 21.5 billion cards shipped and an animated series spanning 19 seasons.

Perlman is also currently at work on the script for the “Captain Marvel” film.
