“Guardians of the Galaxy” co-writer Nicole Perlman has been set to pen the Amazon Studios-based sci-fi television drama series “True Skin”.
The project began life as a short film that went viral. Previously set up at Warner Bros. Pictures as a film, when the rights lapsed Amazon dove in and reinvented the concept as a TV series. Stephan Zlotescu created the short and is on board to direct.
The story is set in the not-too-distant future where people are augmenting their bodies. The lead character can’t afford to augment in the U.S., so he heads to the black market of Bangkok and gets hold of a mysterious chip that he discovers is slowly turning him robotic. Shadowy forces are soon on his tale and want the chip.
Perlman and Scott Glassgold will executive produce the project which Perlman isn’t expected to tackle until next year. Right now she’s dealing with writing several film projects including “Captain Marvel” and a “Pokemon” movie.
