Artist Ian Joyner worked on the concept art for Adam Warlock’s cocoon in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and has released on social media some new art offering our best view of the gilded gestation pod.
Joyner says it was a “delight” to work on the art as he is a big fan of “everything cosmic” in the Marvel universe. The cocoon is glimpsed in a post-credits sequence as a project that The Sovereign’s leader Queen Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) has been working on.
Speculation is high that Adam will show up in the third “Guardians of the Galaxy,” as it has been confirmed Adam will not be a part of “Avengers: Infinity War”. Gunn is returning to write and direct a third ‘Guardians’ which hasn’t set a production or release date as yet.
Cocoon design for the awesome #guardiansofthegalaxyvol2 for #marvelstudios It was a total delight to work on some #conceptart for these as I have been a fan since I was a kid of everything cosmic in the Marvel universe. We did a lot of passes but this is close to the design seen in film. I am fairly sure Luma did the final detail/surfacing pass as well as the shots in the movie for this which looked awesome! I can't wait to see who or what might come out of this thing!
