Those eager to see how the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel will tie-in or tease Marvel’s two-part “Avengers: Infinity War” project will be saddened to hear that you probably shouldn’t expect much in the way of a crossover.
The first film’s director James Gunn is currently at work prepping the ‘Guardians’ follow-up and, speaking with MTV News, was asked about Marvel’s ambitious upcoming slate and how creatively constricted he is by their grander plans.
Surprisingly, it sounds like he doesn’t have to worry about it much, Gunn saying: “I don’t feel beholden to that stuff at all. I think [Guardians 2 is] really about the Guardians and what they are doing. We’re not subservient to the Avengers.”
In fact, he goes on to say the second installment is “not a movie that’s made to move toward Infinity War” but rather “something that is made to move toward future cosmic movies.”
