“Disenchantment” Rates Well, Skews Young

Groenings Disenchantment Rates Well Skews Young

“The Simpsons” and “Futurama” creator Matt Groening’s new animated series “Disenchantment” has done strong numbers in its launch on Netflix just over a week ago.

Nielsen’s SVOD Content Ratings tool, which captures only U.S. viewing, says the first episode drew an average minute audience of 4.4 million, with 60% of them male and 73% of them in the 18-49 demographic with a median age of 29 – the youngest skewing Netflix series launch since “13 Reasons Why”.

All ten of its episodes gathered an aggregated viewing figure of 6.6 million, that’s up on the 6.4 million who tuned in for this year’s “Lost in Space” remake on the streamer. This series riff on fairy tales received only soft reviews from critics.
