Following brief appearances in the first two seasons, DC Comics villain Gorilla Grodd is returning for the upcoming third season of The CW’s “The Flash” – and in a big way. Show producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Collider that the new season will include: “a two-part episode that takes place in Gorilla City.”
Back in January, Kreisberg told the outlet that he wanted to wait to tell the next chapter of Grodd’s story in a multi-episode arc: “I would liken the Gorilla City thing to Ra’s al Ghul. You know, you hear about ;the man from nanda part’ in [Arrow] Season 1, and ‘the man who showed Malcolm the way’ and then you met Nyssa, then in Season 3 you met Ra’s. So, it’s a long-term thing.”
Grodd won’t be a primary villain though. The ‘Flashpoint’ storyline will dominate much of the first few episodes of the season and will likely wrap around the time of the four-show crossover which will result in “Supergirl” becoming a part of this joined universe. Ultimately though there will be two ‘Big Bads’ for the season –
Also, the panel confirmed that there will be two Big Bads this season – Dr. Alchemy and the speedster Savitar. Alchemy is confirmed as being voiced by “Saw” regular Tobin Bell, while it’s still unofficial but Australian hunk Todd Lasance (“Spartacus,” “The Vampire Diaries”) has been seen on the set playing Savitar.
Kreisberg also shot down rumors of Batman showing up in one of the shows and Batwoman appearing in “Supergirl”. Neither will take place.
“The Flash” returns October 4th on The CW.
