Gremlins Remake Scores New Scribe

“Goosebumps” and “Disturbia” scribe Carl Ellsworth has been hired to pen the remake of Joe Dante’s 1984 black comedy creature classic “Gremlins” at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Christopher Columbus penned the original film about a cuddly creature named Gizmo who must not be fed after midnight or exposed to water, otherwise he spawns evil cousins that destroy everything.

Columbus and Steven Spielberg will both produce the reboot, but neither will direct. No word on who might take the helm yet.
