Filmmaker Paul Greengrass (“United 99”) has entered negotiations to direct “Ness” for Paramount Pictures.
Based on Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko’s graphic novel “Torso,” the story follows Elliot Ness years after the events of Al Capone’s downfall as seen in “The Intouchables”.
The former U.S. Treasury Department agent is now a public safety officer in Cleveland where he assembles a team of retired cops to find a serial murderer who has been dumping his victims torsos in the river.
“L.A. Confidential” scribe Brian Helgeland, who previously worked with Greengrass on “The Bourne Supremacy,” penned the latest draft of the long in the works film adaptation. That draft is said to have caught Greengrass’ eye and things are rushing forward fast with filming to begin this Fall.
Greengrass, John Davis, Greg Goodman, David Engel and John Fox are producing.
