Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Armie Hammer, and Jake Gyllenhaal are all on the shortlist of actors for the role of Hal Jordan in “Green Lantern Corps.” for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment reports The Wrap.
The inclusion of Reynolds is an odd one considering he played him already in the 2011 “Green Lantern” film which was a critical and commercial disaster, and his hiring would then probably have to incorporate the elements of that film into the larger DC Extended Universe initiative.
Cooper and Jared Leto auditioned for the 2011 film, Gyllenhaal is a longtime fan favorite, and Cruise has never played a comic-book superhero before. Hammer, who once came close to playing Batman, has trolled fans on social media about playing the role in recent months.
We Got This Covered added another name to the mix, saying “Westworld” and “X-Men” alum James Marsden has been talked about for the role as well. David Goyer and Justin Rhodes are penning the script for the film which Goyer will produce.
