Two years after its premiere at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival, Eli Roth’s cannibal film “The Green Inferno” is finally scoring a release.
Blumhouse Productions will team with Universal and Focus Features to open the film on September 25th through its BH Tilt label. The film will open on approximately 1,000 screens and be the focus of an ambitious digital campaign to create awareness and engagement.
The story centers on a group of student activists traveling to the Amazon to save the rain forest. They soon discover they are not alone after crash-landing on a remote location, and are held hostage by a native tribe they set out to help save.
Open Road Films, the previous distributor, is no longer involved.
