“Green Book” Now The Oscar Frontrunner?

Green Book Now The Oscar Frontrunner

The Producers Guild of America have announced this year’s winning motion picture, television, and digital productions at the 30th Annual Producers Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

Peter Farrelly’s “Green Book,” starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, took the top prize of the Best Feature film. That award has matched the win for Best Picture at the Oscars 20 times in the past 29 years and, combined with the film’s win in the various guild and other awards like the Globes, puts it as the front runner ahead of the Oscar nominations on Tuesday.

Other film winners included “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” for best animated feature and “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” for best documentary. On the TV front, “The Americans” won best drama series and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won best comedy series. Awards were also given to FX’s “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” and HBO’s “Fahrenheit 451”.
