Famed comic book writer Grant Morrison and writer-director Brian Taylor have come onboard Syfy’s event TV series adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s iconic 1931 sci-fi novel “Brave New World” which is set up at Amblin Television.
Set 632 years into the future, the story anticipates new developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning which have profoundly changed society. Morrison, Taylor, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will serve as executive producers.
The announcement comes as Morrison’s black comedy crime-themed graphic novel “Happy!” is also slated to get a TV series adaptation through Universal Cable Productions and Syfy. Morrison and Taylor will also serve as executive producers here with both co-writing the pilot and Taylor attached to direct.
The story follows Nick Sax, a corrupt, intoxicated ex-cop turned hit-man adrift in a twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit goes wrong, he finds a bullet in his side and both the cops and the mob on his tail. His world is changed forever though by Happy, a tiny (imaginary) blue winged horse with a relentlessly positive attitude.
