“Orphan Black” co-creator Graeme Manson has taken over as showrunner on TNT’s upcoming TV series based on the Bong Joon-ho film “Snowpiercer”. No air date has yet been set.
The story is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. The original 2013 film, which starred Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton, is based on the French comic “Le Transperceneige”.
Manson replaces Josh Friedman, who developed the drama and wrote the pilot, after Friedman exited the reboot due to creative differences. Friedman later said he was pushed out as the cabler wanted someone “more compliant”.
Tony winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”) stars alongside Jennifer Connelly and Alison Wright. Friedman will continue to be credited as an executive producer despite having left the series.
