Commercial and music-video director Michael Gracey is apparently the man that both the Jim Henson Company and Disney are interested in to direct the Jim Henson biopic “The Muppet Man” says Vulture.
Australian scribe Christopher Weekes penned the Black List topping script which mixes a conventional live-action biopic with fantasy sequences and plays out crucial moments in Henson’s life with Muppets.
The film now seems to be slowly progressing as the two companies finally come to an agreement. Disney owns the rights to the Muppets while Henson’s company holds the life rights to Henson and his surviving ex-wife, Jane.
As previously reported, the studio is also developing a new Muppets movie which James Bobin (“Flight of the Conchords”) is attached to direct.
