Goyer, Snyder Set For “Man of Steel” Sequel

It has been a big day on the “Man of Steel” front as the embargo lifted on early media reviews for the Superman reboot. Reaction has been very good, especially amongst fanboy critics, but more regular ones seem a bit less impressed.

With 32 reviews counted, Rotten Tomatoes has scored the film 72% and a 7.5/10 average rating. That average rating is actually one of the best of the year so far, and on par with “Star Trek Into Darkness” which scored a higher tomato-meter rating.

Over on Metacritic, it’s on 63/100 which is on par with films like “Spring Breakers” and “Les Miserables,” and just above recent Summer blockbusters like “Iron Man 3” at 62/100 and “Fast and Furious 6” at 61/100.

Reaction has given much acclaim for the visuals and production design, with most of the criticisms focused on the sheer relentlessness of the big-scale action and/or unrelenting seriousness of the film’s tone.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros Pictures is officially fast-tracking the sequel with both Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer returning as director and writer respectively.

Goyer was already set as he already signed a three picture deal that includes “Man of Steel,” its sequel, and the “Justice League” movie.
