It looks like Warner Bros. Pictures is opting out of a U.S. theatrical release for Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut “Lost River”. The studio is reportedly planning a direct-to-DVD and VOD release in April.
Premiering in May at the Cannes Film Festival to mostly negative reviews, the fantasy drama centers on a single mother swept into a dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.
Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes, Matt Smith, Saoirse Ronan and Iain De Caestecker also star in the film which Gosling penned the script for. The film was shot in Detroit.
