He’s been trying to get it off the ground for years, now filmmaker David Gordon Green tells The Playlist that his planned remake of Dario Argento’s classic 70’s horror movie “Suspiria” could well be his next feature.
“it’s an idea that came to me three years ago. That was an enlightening process. [Our ‘Suspiria’] doesn’t follow the trend of the traditional horror movies of late, so it’s a leap of faith, financially.”
He also says it will stick closely to the surreal original – “it’s actually very faithful. I’m gonna put my spin on it, but in terms of a pitch, it’s going to remain quite faithful to [the original].”
Natalie Portman had been linked to the lead role, but that’s no longer the case after “Black Swan”. Green says he intends to go with a mostly unknown cast in the film.
Green has two films coming out this year, the comedies “Your Highness” and “The Sitter”. He’s currently scheduled to direct the pilot of “Black Jack” next month, after that he’d get to work on “Suspiria”.
