“The Good Wife” spin-off is officially a go with CBS announcing on Wednesday that it has given a straight-to-series order for the follow-up which centers on Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo).
Creators Robert and Michelle King are set to co-write the first episode but will not run the series which is aiming for a Spring 2017 debut exclusively on the network’s CBS All Access service. It will be the second original series to debut on the service, alongside the new “Star Trek” TV series which kicks off in January.
The new spin-off will introduce new characters and pick up one year after the events of the finale of “The Good Wife”. Phil Alden Robinson, Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Brooke Kennedy and Liz Glotzer will all executive produce the series which, like its progenitor, will be a production of CBS Television Studios, Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions.
