Producers Guild of America Awards
“The Hurt Locker” beat out “Avatar” to win the big award at the PGA Awards on Sunday. Two out of every three winners of that award in the past two decades have won the ‘Best Film’ award at the Oscars.
“Up” scored best animated film while “The Cove” took home best documentary.
Screen Actors Guild Awards
The Screen Actors Guild Awards were handed out over the weekend with all four individual honors going to the same winners at last weekend’s Golden Globes. The difference is the ensemble for ‘Basterds’ were rewarded – yes that does mean that Eli Roth has an acting award. The winners were:
Best Ensemble: “Inglourious Basterds”
Best Actor: Jeff Bridges for “Crazy Heart”
Best Actress: Sandra Bullock for “The Blind Side”
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz for “Inglourious Basterds”
Best Supporting Actress: Mo’Nique for “Precious”
The British Film and Television Acaedmy announced its nominations late last week. “Avatar,” “An Education,” “The Hurt Locker,” “Precious” and “Up in the Air” are competing for Best Film.
“An Education,” “Fish Tank, ” “In the Loop,” “Moon” and “Nowhere Boy” are competing for Outstanding British Film.
