Various city critics groups have begun handing out awards with various trends emerging. Dominating in certain categories so far are Kathryn Bigelow (“The Hurt Locker”) for director, Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds”) for supporting actor, Mo’Nique (“Precious”) for supporting actress, “The Cove” for documentary, “Up” for animated feature while “The Hurt Locker” and “Up in the Air” are the two most common mentions for Best Picture.

Quentin Tarantino’s WWII film “Inglourious Basterds” scored the most awards with four nods from the online film critics of the Big Apple. Drama “Crazy Heart” scored two nods including one for score. The winners were:
