“Godzilla vs. King Kong” Gets A Writer’s Room

Legendary Pictures have reportedly assembled a ‘writer’s room’ for the upcoming Godzilla vs King Kong film which is set for a 2020 release. No director is currently attached.

Terry Rossio (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) is teaming with Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (“Star Trek Beyond”), T.S. Nowlin (“The Maze Runner”), J. Michael Straczynski (“Sense8”) and authors Lindsey Beer (“The Kingkiller Chronicles”) and Cat Vasko (“Queen of the Air”) to work on the script

The film will be the fourth entry in what’s being dubbed the MonsterVerse. The first was 2014’s “Godzilla” reboot and the second, “Kong: Skull Island,” opens in cinemas today. The third, “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” will be helmed by Michael Dougherty and will open in cinemas on March 22nd 2019.

A staple of TV, writer’s rooms have now become a studio favorite for cinematic universes with such rooms being assembled for the “Transformers” franchise, other Hasbro-based properties, and Universal’s Classic Monsters universe which begins with this Summer’s “The Mummy”.
