Goddard To Helm “Spider-Man” Reboot?

A new report over at Latino Review suggests that “Cabin in the Woods” scribe Drew Goddard, who was originally slated to write and direct the “Spider-Man” spin-off “Sinister Six,” will now instead direct the upcoming Sony/Marvel Studios-sanctioned reboot of the “Spider-Man” franchise.

With Marvel now in on the film and former producer Avi Arad essentially out (he’ll retain a name credit), their sources claim the plan is to produce a new trilogy of films which could go by the moniker “Spectacular Spider-Man”.

The previous Spider-Man verse films in the works will all be phased out, whilst Goddard’s work on “Sinister Six” so far could well be reincorporated into the reboot as the plan is to apparently do a story involving Spidey versus the Sinister Six.

A major part of the first film is said to involve Spider-Man fighting Iron Man and then trying to pass the ‘audition’ to join the Avengers, and no new origin story is expected.
