The Game Awards, the annual streaming award show honoring all things gaming, handed out their honors tonight in Los Angeles with “Red Dead Redemption 2” and “God of War” sweeping the show.

“God of War” won the top prize of Game of the Year along with best game direction and best action/adventure game. “Red Dead Redemption” beat it in overall count though with awards for Best Narrative, Best Score, Best Audio Design and Best Performance for Roger Clark’s work as Arthur Morgan.

The other big winners were “Fortnite” for best ongoing game and best multiplayer game, and “Celeste” which won best independent game and best game for impact.

In terms of one-offs – “Forza Horizon 4 ” was best sports/racing game, “Florence” won best mobile game, “Overwatch” best e-sports game, “Dragon Ball FighterZ” best fighter game, “Overcooked 2” best family game, “Into the Breach” beast strategy game, “Astro Bot Rescue Mission” best VR game, “Dead Cells” best action game, “Monster Hunter: World” best RPG, “The Messenger” best indie debut game, “Return of Obra Din” won best art direction, and “Combat 2018” best student game.

Acclaimed titles like “Marvel’s Spider-Man” and “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” sadly walked away empty handed.
