Marking her return to scripted television following a five year absence after the wrapping up of “Damages,” acclaimed actress Glenn Close has scored the lead role in the Amazon half-hour pilot “Sea Oak” which is billed as a blend of zombie drama and family revenge comedy.
Close plays Aunt Bernie, a meek, unmarried and childless woman in working-class Rust Belt City who dies tragically in a home invasion. Compelled by sheer force of dissatisfaction, she comes back from the dead full of rage and determined to get the life she never had.
This means inflicting a range of demands on what’s left of her nuclear family, including a quasi-stripper nephew and two feckless nieces living in a housing estate. George Saunders (“Lincoln in the Bardo”) is penning the series which Jonathan Krauss executive produces.
