Brendan Gleeson and Donald Sutherland are teaming for the Canadian outlaw true story “The McLean Boys” for Soapbox Prods. and Minds Eye Entertainment says The Hollywood Reporter.
Set in British Columbia in 1879, Sutherland plays the patriarch of the McLean family, one which consists of three sons all produced by his mixed-race marriage with a Shuswap native. A tragic chain of events leads to them going on the run and caught up in the fight for their lives. Their actions stir the native population into a possible revolt.
Gleeson plays a Justice of the Peace who leads the posse of 100 men in pursuit of the McLean’s. Charles Martin Smith (“Air Bud,” “The Snow Walker”) will direct from a script by Nick Orchard and Ian Weir (who will also produce). Shooting kicks off on location in July.
