Tracy Oliver, co-writer of this Summer’s sleeper smash hit “Girls Trip,” has been brought in to turn the 1996 comedy feature “The First Wives Club” into a new half-hour series for the Paramount Network.
The series will take place in New York City and will follow a group of women who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in both their sisterhood and a little revenge.
Bette Midler, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn starred in the original, but the new take is expected to have a more diverse casting flavor.
Karen Rosenfelt (“The Devil Wears Prada,” “Twilight”) will executive produce. The Paramount Network, a rebranding of Spike, debuts on January 18th.
