“Girls” Duo To Co-Write “Toni Erdmann” Remake

Former “Girls” co-showrunners Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner are in talks to pen the American remake of last year’s Oscar-nominated German comedy “Toni Erdmann”.

The story follows a father (Jack Nicholson) who creates an entirely new persona to connect with his workaholic daughter (Kristen Wiig).

Maren Ade’s original blended surprising moments of tenderness amidst some pitch black and often raunchy comedy, concerns are obvious as to whether the U.S. version will soften some of those edges.

Adam McKay and Will Ferrell will produce, but no director has yet been set.
