This past Thanksgiving weekend also saw the release of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” the four telemovie revival of the beloved family drama series which comes several years after the show wrapped.
Today comes the news that the series was a big ratings hit for Netflix, well at least as far as Netflix ratings can be measured. Symphony Advanced Media, which tracks Netflix numbers, says that that nearly five million viewers between the ages of 18 and 49 have watched all four episodes of the revival in the first three days. That amounts to a 3.6 rating among adults 18-49.
In fact, Gilmore Girls’ binge audience is said to be behind only the fourth season of “Orange Is the New Black” (5.8 million) and the first season of “Fuller House” (7.3 million) in terms of 2016’s best performing Netflix original series.
Also a full 83% of the six million viewers who watched the first episode finished the four episode run within the first three days. Symphony’s numbers are not officially recognized by Netflix.
