Gillian Gets Moody About Helen

Former “X-Files” star Gillian Anderson is set to star in “Helen,” the first English-language film from German writer-director Sandra Nettelbeck (“Mostly Martha”) says Variety.

Anderson will portray a talented professor forced to come to terms with her clinical depression after it causes her life to fall apart. Filming begins in the U.S. in September.

Egoli Tossell is producing the film, one of several high profile period pieces he has in the works including the Anthony Hopkins-led Leo Tolstoy biopic “The Last Station,” and the Chloe Sevigny Russian czar drama “Peter and Catherine.”
