Whilst David Duchovny has been talking about further “X-Files” movies for a good decade, with no sequel in sight, his co-star Gillian Anderson has been more reluctant on the issue.
Now, talking with Empire Online, recent rumours of the franchise’s resurrection may actually be on solid ground after all.
“They’re starting to talk about doing a feature again. Every year or two they talk about it again, but it seems like it might be for real this time. Somehow it seems like somebody’s really serious about it. I know that Chris’ lawsuit with Fox is over, so maybe now it can be done” says Anderson.
Anderson has received no plot details from Carter, but she says he wants to do a stand-alone horror story that does not use the series’ long-running alien conspiracy/government cover-up storyline.
The comments adds to those this week from David Duchovny who says “Chris [Carter] and Frank [Spotnitz] are going over the story. It’s a story they’ve had for a few years but we haven’t all settled on the fact that we wanted to do it, so now they’re hammering it out”
Production is tipped to likely start in 2008.
