Gilliam’s “Quixote” Aims To Ride Again

Terry Gilliam hopes to finally restart his beloved but doomed “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote”, around a decade after his famous failed first attempt thwarted by bad weather, destroyed sets and a lead star’s injuries.

Variety reports that Gilliam and screenwriter Tony Grisoni have rewritten and updated the script which now revolves around a filmmaker who is charmed into joining Don Quixote’s eternal quest for his ladylove, becoming an unwitting Sancho Panza.

Gilliam is also in talks with Johnny Depp, who had been set to star as a modern-day ad executive who travels back in time and is mistaken for Sancho Panza by Don Quixote. His availability however will be an issue.

Jeremy Thomas will produce.
