The first trailer for Paul Feig’s “Ghostbusters” reboot racked up 24 million views across YouTube and Facebook over the space of the initial 24 hours after its launch says ListenFirst Media via Variety.
Reactions to the trailer for the Paul Feig-directed film have been polarising, some loving and some hating the clip be it the trailer on its own grounds, to the idea of the project altogether. Comments have ranged from strong praise to dismissal to outright sexist insults lobbed at the quartet of female stars – Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
Yet the numbers don’t lie, the trailer pulling in double the 12 million views the first trailer for “Independence Day: Resurgence” did across its first 24 hours and the 8 million “The Legend of Tarzan” did in its first day. Even so, it still fell short of the likes of “Suicide Squad” (34 million), “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (30 million) and “Captain America: Civil War” (26 million).
In the wake of the trailer last week, a new featurette has been released which can be seen below along with the best of several fan edits of the trailer that have popped up since that seemed to be about resolving issues with the humor on display rather than altering the rest of the content.
“Ghostbusters” hits cinema on July 15th.
