The Paul Feig-directed “Ghostbusters” reboot made headlines a few days ago when it was reportedly said to be the most ‘disliked’ movie trailer in YouTube history. Various analysis pieces into those figures however show a concerted effort by a contingent of people online to skew the results – in the process effectively rendering them invalid.
The results of a Fandango summer movies poll however indicate that enough people are interested in the film to make it the most anticipated comedy of the summer, ranking above “Central Intelligence” and “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising”. The same poll has “Captain America: Civil War” as the most anticipated film of the summer overall.
However you feel about the trailer, it reached 60 million YouTube views shortly after its release. Melissa McCarthy spoke recently with John, Jay & Rich Show about that trailer and said she’s as confused as everyone else by the ’30 Years Ago’ text taglines added in which made the new film seem like a continuation rather than the full on reboot it actually is.
“Ghostbusters will open in cinemas on July 15th.
