“Get Out” leading man Daniel Kaluuya has been set to star in “Shame” and “12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen’s “Widows” remake at New Regency, Film4 and See-Saw Films.
“Gone Girl” screenwriter and novelist Gillian Flynn will co-write the script adaptation with McQueen based on Lynda LaPlante’s iconic 1983 British miniseries.
The original followed four armed robbers who are killed in a failed heist attempt, leaving their tough as nails widows to finish the job.
Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki and Cynthia Erivo are already aboard. Kaluuya is currently shooting Marvel’s “Black Panther” and will star in the Michael Fassbender-produced “The Kitchen” which he wrote.
