Comedian Ricky Gervais popped up at the Weinstein-Netflix post-Golden Globes party last night following his duties as MC of the actual ceremony.
Speaking with Deadline, he reportedly indicated that he’s already been asked back to host next year’s Golden Globes – but no final decision has been made yet.
Gervais says one of the big draws for the gig is that he’s been given total freedom: “What’s great is that NBC and the HFPA let me do whatever I want. That is what’s so cool and great about them. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Variety reports that early ratings figures for the ceremony saw a slight uptick from last year with the ceremony scoring a 13.0 overnight household rating/20 share according to Nielsen. That’s up 3% from last year’s overnights (12.6/19) which translated to 19.31 million total viewers.
