Gerard Butler (“300,” “Olympus Has Fallen”) is in discussions to join Alex Proyas’ “Gods Of Egypt” at Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment.
Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (“Dracula Untold”) penned the project in which Butler would play Set (aka. Seth, Sutekh), the god of the desert, storms, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion.
Set killed his brother Osiris, prompting Set’s nephew Horus to seek revenge. Failing in the attempt and being disfigured as a result, it’s up to a young human thief in love with a slave to help defeat the mad god.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game Of Thrones”) is onboard in the role of Horus. Filming begins early in the new year in Australia.
