It’s official, George Miller is in talks to direct “Justice League of America,” Warner Bros.’ live-action picture of the DC Comics superhero team reports the trades.
Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney’s script features such heroes as Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, the Flash, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter.
With both Brandon Routh and Christian Bale confirmed not to be playing their own franchise characters, the studio is aiming to cast the movie with lesser-known actors, and an international search is under way. The smaller names in the movie is also expected to help keep the budget down.
Miller’s “League” will be effects-intensive and some motion capture likely will be used as well. Preparations are being made to shoot to the movie pre-strike in Australia for release Summer 2009.
