Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush has been cast in the role of famed scientist Albert Einstein for “Genius,” the upcoming series that marks the National Geographic Channel’s first foray into scripted television.
The anthology series will focus each ten-episode season on a famous ‘genius’ with Einstein being the first. Throughout the course of the season we’ll dive deep into the life of the rebellious patent clerk turned iconic scientist whom will be played by “Brotherhood” actor Johnny Flynn throughout his young years and by Rush in his latter years.
The series will be based on Walter Isaacson’s critically acclaimed biography and begins production next month in Prague. Ron Howard will produce through his Imagine TV label, and will direct the premiere episode.
