Geoff Johns Explains His DC Films Role

In the world of comics, no man is taking on more responsibility these days it seems than Geoff Johns. Already the CCO of DC Comics, a comic book retailer and writer, a TV writer and producer, and now the co-head of the newly formed DC Films division at Warner Bros. Pictures.

On top of that he’s managing ‘DC Rebirth,’ a complete relaunch of the DC Comics line which will try and both refresh the various comics line while keep continuity from various previous incarnations of titles including the whole Flashpoint & New 52 elements from five years ago. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Johns explained his new role at DC Films fairly succinctly:

“My job is to help other Warner Brothers divisions work with DC. I work with Warner TV and producers to get these shows up and running, in particular with The Flash, where I co-created the show, wrote a few episodes, wrote the pilot episode.

I work with other people, Ames Kirshen in games, the studios like Rocksteady and Netherrealm, go in there on character choices, story they’re going to do and brainstorm on that, try to keep it true to comics.

I do get to say I’m working on Batman with Ben Affleck. That gets the Thanksgiving table excited, especially my brother.”

“The Flash” airs its second season finale tonight. The solo “Batman” film with Ben Affleck is in development with no release date yet set.
