Paramount Pictures had a strong showing at Comic-Con last week with pushes for both Tim Miller’s “Terminator: Dark Fate” and Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun: Maverick”. One of their upcoming films that was a no show however was Ang Lee’s “Gemini Man”.
That film is now getting a new trailer tomorrow, but ahead of that a new behind-the-scenes featurette has gone up with both star Will Smith and Lee discussing the film’s big selling point – a de-aged Smith.
Smith plays an ageing assassin attempting to leave the lifestyle, but finds himself hunted by a younger clone of himself. Extensive de-ageing is used to take Smith back to resembling an early 1990s Smith, not unlike what they did with Samuel L. Jackson in “Captain Marvel”.
Lee’s version goes far beyond that though, this young Smith recreation standing up to an unrelenting 60fps 3D and 120fps 2D versions of the film to be screened in cinemas, in addition to the regular 2D 24fps release. “Gemini Man” is currently slated to open in cinemas on October 11th.
