ShowbizSpy reports that Sarah Michelle Gellar is in talks to reprise her role as Buffy Summers in a film sequel to the hit series which wrapped up a successful seven season run back in 2003.
Insider reports say that the idea for the script has the story picking up with an older Buffy, who might even be a mother. While Gellar is currently busy with other projects, she is excited about the idea.
The franchise still has a large fan-base and in-built audience, the main questions are the timing and how many of the cast members like Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head, Michelle Trachtenberg, David Boreanaz, James Marsters and Eliza Dushku would be available.
Kristy Swanson starred in the initial comedic film incarnation of “Buffy” back in 1992. That film bared little relation to the darkly humored, mythology-heavy and emotional series that followed in 1997.
