The on-again, off-again planned film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s seminal science-fiction novel “Ender’s Game” seems to be on-again at Odd Lot Entertainment after stalling in recent years.
Filmmaker Gavin Hood (“Tsotsi,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) has apparently rewritten Card’s most recent script and is developing the project as a director reports The L.A. Times.
The story follows a child super soldier who plays a long simulation of Earth’s fight against the ‘bugger’ race of alien insects. As the ‘game’ wears on, he begins to lose his sanity and makes a final and devastating decision that has real world consequences.
Wolfgang Petersen was previously attached to helm the film but withdrew in mid-2008 and reports came later that the entire project had been scrapped in November of that year.
