Gary Oldman is set to direct “Flying Horse,” a biopic about film pioneer Eadweard Muybridge.
Muybridge was a photographer whose techniques paved the way for the motion picture projector and ultimately the entire film industry.
The film will focus on his other claim to fame – the murder of reputed theater critic Major Henry Larkyns who was engaged in an affair with his wife.
While no deals are in place, Ralph Fiennes and Benedict Cumberbatch are being eyed to star in the project as Muybridge and Larkyns respectively.
Oldman will pen the script and might also play the role of district attorney Dennis Spencer who defended Muybridge in his murder trial.
Shooting aims to begin next year.
