Gary Cole is set to reprise his role of Kurt McVeigh from “The Good Wife” in CBS’ upcoming spin-off “The Good Fight” for its streaming service CBS All Access.
Christine Baranski returns as Diane Lockheart in the story which centers on an enormous financial scam that has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Diane’s goddaughter Maia (Rose Leslie), while simultaneously wiping out her mentor’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, the pair join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
Cole made fourteen appearances throughout the original show’s seven-season run as a famed ballistics expert and Diane’s boyfriend turned husband McVeigh. The show left their marriage on shaky territory following Kurt being questioned on the stand – leading to the memorable Diane/Alicia slapping that ended the show.
The first episode of the spinoff will first air on CBS before moving to CBS All Access. The original scripted series began production last month in New York for a ten-episode first season.
